What in the World is Therapy, Anyway?: How I Can Help You Let Go of Self-Doubt and Find Calm Within

Hello!

If you've found your way to this page, you're already taking the courageous step of exploring how therapy can help you. My name is Dr Hanne Warren, and I'm a clinical psychologist specialising in supporting women on their journey to overcome self-doubt, people-pleasing, perfectionism, and the emotional difficulties that life can throw our way, such as anxiety, anger and depression.

Why Therapy?

Life can be a labyrinth of challenges, and it's easy to get lost in our own thoughts and emotions. Many of us struggle with feelings of self-doubt, an inner critic that won't be silenced, and the constant need to please others. These struggles can leave us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or even depressed. The good news is that I can offer you a talking therapy that provides a warm and supportive space to untangle these difficulties, understand them, and find the means to overcome them.

Your Journey Begins with a Free Introductory Call

To start this journey with me, we begin with a free introductory call. This call is an opportunity for us to connect, for you to ask any questions you might have, and for us to get to know each other. I believe in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship, and this call allows you to determine if we're a good fit to work together. Book your free introductory call here.

The Basics

When we begin therapy we will meet either online or face to face, usually at weekly or perhaps fortnightly intervals. Appointments last for 50 minutes and will usually be at the same time and on the same day each week. All the information you need including my fees and insurers that I work with and my terms and conditions are available on my website. You can also read testimonials from previous clients I have worked with. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.

The First Steps

I will guide you in piecing together your personal story from your unique life experiences. Together we will explore the paths that have brought you to this point in your life. Understanding your past and present allows us to chart a course for your future, in which I can help you flourish in self-confidence, emotional resilience, and self-compassion.

The Heart of the Therapy

Therapy with me is marked by its warmth and my ability to help people feel heard, seen, and understood. In addition to the strength of the therapy relationship, I can help you achieve long-term change by offering you a variety of targeted therapeutic skills and knowledge, including:

  • Mindfulness, a practice that helps you become more aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment, freeing you up to gain self-awareness and handle difficulties differently.

  • Defusion, a process that helps you distance yourself from unhelpful thoughts. Imagine gently detaching from the negative self-talk that often holds us back.

  • Acceptance, learning to open up calmly to your emotions and unwanted experiences rather than getting caught up in cycles of guilt and self-criticism about your feelings.

  • Values work, identifying those things that truly matter to you, and using them as a roadmap for creating a more fulfilling life. Rather than being guided by your fears or self-doubt, you would move towards a future where you act like the kind of person that you deep-down want to be.

  • Compassion, to help you achieve balance and resilience. Compassion helps you respond to the inevitable pain of life with strength, kindness and a sense of calm.

These are some of the tools that I use to empower women towards a life richer in calm, self-confidence and freer from guilt and self-criticism.
